The 12th International Conference on SSBU Buddhist Studies Conference
In honour of the 61st Birthday Celebration of the Most Venerable Oxford Sayadaw Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, the Founder and Rector of Shan State Buddhist University, Taunggyi, Shan State, Republic of the Union of Myanmar

As in previous years, we are pleased to announce the 12th International Conference on “SSBU’s Founder Buddhist Studies” to be held at Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU) in Taunggyi, Shan State, Myanmar. The conference is a significant event marking the 61st Birthday of the Most Ven. Oxford Sayadaw Prof. Dr. K. Dhammasami, the Founder and Rector of SSBU.
We warmly invite scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world to submit their papers and share their insights on “International Buddhist Studies Conference” to honor the Founder’s Vision of Wisdom, Compassion and Learning. And this two-day event aims to strengthen a vibrant academic and spiritual forum to explore the depth and diversity of the Tipiáąaka, as well as emerging interdisciplinary approaches to the study of Buddhism.
We welcome original research, interpretive studies, comparative works, and interdisciplinary perspectives from all schools and traditions of Buddhism.
Areas of Focus on Conference Theme
- Buddhist Textual Studies and Contemporary Translation Approaches.
- Buddhist Psychology, Counseling, and Neuroscientific Perspectives.
- Applied Dimensions of Buddhism in Contemporary Contexts (e.g., Buddhist Ecology, Engaged Buddhism, and Peacebuilding)
Important Dates
- Submission deadline for 350-word abstract: 30 September 2025
- Submission deadline for full paper (no more than 4000 words): 20 October 2025
- Conference dates: 31 October & 1 November 2025

- Papers must be original and not presented or published elsewhere.
- Both the abstract and the full paper should be submitted as a MS Word file by email.
- Papers should be no more than 4000 words, Single-Spaced in Time New Roman 12 point.
- The authors) should include their full contact details and brief biographical notes.
Information on Paper Presentation:
- Paper presentations could be made at SSBU or online.
- Time for the paper presentation is 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for Q & A.
- Interpretation service is not available for paper presentations.
- Transportation and accommodation are arranged for on-campus paper presenters.
